The project featured two design sprints with the following focuses:
-
Defining the product's position through concept testing.
-
Refining interaction and visual designs through usability testing.
-
Establishing visual guidelines for content atmosphere.
Two sprints approach

Design Sprint 2 - Usability & Visual
Refresh concepts by aligning each with a unique product vision and specific experience goals.
-
Concept A: Highlight scene switching with natural gestures like opening and closing curtains.
-
Concept B: Transforming spaces to mimic moving through different rooms at home, each with distinct atmospheres and activities, reducing the emphasis on the homepage.
-
Concept C: Creating a smart "living room" homepage to welcome all users.

Design Sprint 1 - Product Positioning

While exploring the diverse experiences enabled by projectors, we enhanced our understanding of how users accept and expect innovation and interaction models for this new product.
Key insights that informed next steps
-
The concept that resonated most with users was Concept B because of its simple interaction.
-
From a content perspective, users still anticipate landing on a homepage as a starting point for their journey.
-
With these insights in mind, we assisted the client's team in aligning the product's positioning.
-
Subsequently, we elaborated on the concept and detailed the new remote control interaction, ensuring alignment with the visual direction.

Concept testing was designed with shared focus on interaction patterns and unique feature of each concept.

The 「Companion mode」 introduced a new projection experience and scenario. However, users haven't formed habits of active exploration and use due to:
-
Inconsistent interaction logic between Classic & Companion modes, leading to a steep learning curve for users.
-
Lack of a distinctive and memorable visual experience that aligns with brand identity and guiding design principles.
-
The experience hasn't established differentiation, and the advantages of the time window need better utilization.
